Hey All,
Just a reminder that the farm trip is coming up onthis Sunday, October 15th!
If you are interested in coming on the trip and you have a car with
room for a few CSA members, please let us know.
Most people will be coming out on the LIRR,which seems to be the
easiest transportation option.
So we figured out a way to get the LIRR for a reasonable price and we
didn't have enough people interested in taking the train to get a
group rate..
So here's the deal.
The best thing to do is buy a one way to at either Penn or the
Atlantic Ave station to Riverhead (zone 14) for $14.50 off peak and a
one way
for the return from Speonk (zone 12) $11.25 off peak for a total of
$25.75.(sunday is off peak all day).
-Chris & Eve will pick people up at the station, they just need to
know how many people are coming so they have enough cars.
-Another option is to bring your bike on the train, CSA members Ryan
& Yolim will conduct a 3 mile bike ride from the train station in
Riverhead to the farm.
LIRR Info:
People can take the LIRR "Ronkonkoma Line" from Penn, Flatbush Ave, or
Jamaica (and stations in between). The departing train leaves
Flatbush Ave
at 9:08 am on Sunday the 15th, (leaves Jamaica station at 9:40) and
arrives in Riverhead at 11:23.
Chris & Eve will pick people up, we just need to know
how many so we have enough cars.
We will drop people at the train departing Speonk Station (Montauk Line)
at 4:46, arriving at Flatbush at 6:36 p.m. (Jamaica 6:18 pm).
Bike Ride Option:
The bike ride will be a 3 mile bike ride from the Riverhead station
to the farm.
You will need a bike permit in order to take your bike on the train
so people will have to already have one
(you can get them from any window @ penn station or window 27 at
Grand Central Station). They cost 5 bucks and last a lifetime.
The LIRR also require that you have an "elastic cord" to secure your
bike.
If you are interested in the bike ride, please contact Ryan for
coordinate.
